Managed Futures
Managed Futures represent an asset class managed by professional investment managers, known as Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs), who use proprietary trading methodologies to invest in futures and options contracts. Although no strategy or asset class is without risk of loss, CTAs seeking to generate absolute returns through Managed Futures often have two potential key advantages as compared to more traditional strategies or asset classes: the ability to invest across a wide range of global markets and asset classes including stocks, bonds, commodities and currencies; and the flexibility to take long and short positions in these investments based on a projected profit potential and economic factors.
We believe Managed Futures can be a complement to the four primary Asset Allocation Strategies offered on the Genworth Financial Wealth Management platform when viewed as an additional diversifier that can be blended with a client’s existing strategy allocations, when appropriate and consistent with client objectives and risk tolerances.
